Queen's Cuff

Description

Rondo á la Byzantine is a weave which incorporates the Helm chain with elements of Byzantine to create one amazing work of art.
This particular piece is made with two sizes of square-wire stainless steel and two sizes of anodized niobium jump rings, in three colors. It is comprised of three Rondo bracelets connected to one another at their seams.
The resultant piece is quite heavy and stiff, yet moves in a very fluid manner.

Niobium is a hypoallergenic pure element; #41 on the periodic table. The process of anodization adds color by creating an oxide layer with electricity, which allows the eye to see color. This means no dyes are used, and the resulting finish is iridescent and very scratch-resistant, especially when compared to other weaker metals. Niobium is heavier than steel, which means pieces made with that material have a satisfying weight when worn.

1.5" W x 6" L; stainless steel and anodized niobium jump rings, sterling silver tube clasp.

This piece is for sale -- please note me if interested.

You've done an excellent job!

I love the cuffs you make--they are always so pleasing to the eye, a joy to follow and try to think through as you follow the rings up and down and across.

I also love the colour selection, and the order you have chosen for this. It reminds me of sunrise, as it fades out from the deep, dusky purple-blue in the centre, to rosy purple, and then to a sunny golden orange. It is a good way to meld cool and warm colours together, and a nice gradient. Personally, I might have added a little something in between the gold-orange and the dusty rose, as there seems to be more silver in between the colours than anywhere else in the piece, but your result is still great.

Your closures look excellent from what I can see in the photographs, and that's important. It's good to see proper closures in a world where a lot of people are getting into chainmaille, and not paying attention to the little things like that.

And finally, nice work with the accents of the square wire rings--they make this look much more full than I think pure round wire rings would.

Overall, excellent piece!
